These are the initial results of biochar applications at Ciprian and Julia’s farm in Pumamarca, Peru.

On his last visit to Pumamarca, our partner in Peru, Edwar Escalante (Executive Director of Andes Libres) stopped by Ciprian and Julia’s farm to see if there was any progress after the initial applications of biochar.

The results are outstanding!  The crops that were sown where the biochar was applied appear to be greener and healthier than those in the control rows, which appear to have a nutrient deficiency indicated by their yellow discoloration.

In the video, you see Julia giving a brief explanation of her observations.  At their farm, Ciprian and Julia are cultivating potatoes and gladiolus, which they intend to sell at market once they mature.
