A team of five students in the sustainability and global reach program at Arizona State University travelled to Peru in June 2013. As representatives of G.A.I.A. International, they worked closely with Kathleen Stefanik and other G.A.I.A. staff to delve into the Peruvian culture and meet the farmers in this beautiful country. The students spent two weeks training farmers how to create and utilize biochar in their fields, emphasizing the soil enhancement benefits it provides.
